Anna Mantzaris

Instructor: Food and Travel Writing

Anna Mantzaris is a San Francisco-based writer and editor. She is the author of several travel books, including Freedom Trail Boston, Where: San Francisco Shop!, and 48 Hours San Francisco, and has contributed to travel guides for Time Out, Moon Metro, and BlackBook List. Anna’s travel and food writing has appeared in many publications including Fodor’s, USA Weekend, and The San Francisco Chronicle, and she was a contract travel writer for Skyscanner. She is also a former cookbook editor.

Anna’s short story collection The Girl Who Can Take the Most Electricity was a finalist for the 2020 Eyelands Book Award, and she was also a finalist for the 2022 Lascaux Prize in Flash Fiction. Her creative writing has appeared in publications including Ambit, The Cortland Review, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Necessary Fiction, New World Writing, and Sonora Review. Anna received a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA from Mills College. She has been awarded writing residencies by Hedgebrook and The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. She is currently a fiction chapbook fellow with Galileo Press.
