Laura Moreno, MSPH, LCGC

Adjunct Faculty, Capstone Process

BS, University of Central Florida; BS, MS, University of South Florida

Laura Moreno is a bilingual (English-Spanish) cancer genetic counselor at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and City of Hope. Laura obtained her master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Genetic Counseling in 2020 from the University of South Florida. She has had multiple publications in the Journal of Genetic Counseling and elsewhere regarding health disparities in the genetic counseling field and cancer education avenues for minority populations. As a second-year genetic counseling student, she was awarded a platform presentation at NSGC, where she presented her thesis work on educating community members about hereditary cancer risk as an avenue to improve identification of high-risk individuals for HBOC in the Latino population. Aside from working as a cancer genetic counselor, Laura is an instructor in the R25 ARBOLES program, where she leads educational talks regarding the basics of cancer genetics and the importance of family history for community health workers who primarily work with Hispanic communities in the United States. Laura is very passionate about advocating for diversity in the field of genetic counseling and reducing barriers for minority communities to access genetic services.

In her free time, Laura enjoys CrossFit and spending time with family, friends, and her dog. We are delighted to welcome her as adjunct faculty for our capstone process.
