国产哟哟 Students Place in Top 10 at 15th Annual Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Entrepreneurship Conference
Students showcased their innovative ideas and networked with area entrepreneurs
The Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Entrepreneurship Conference, held at the MassMutual Center in Springfield earlier this month, provided 国产哟哟 students - as well as students from 13 other area colleges - a chance to foster their innovative spirit.
Over 500 college students were in attendance, and 国产哟哟 was represented by 175 participants from many different programs. Six students placed in the Top 10 Pitches during the “World’s Largest Idea Jam” session. Kathleen Nelson G’18, a student from the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program, climbed the ranks to earn 2nd Place with her pitch for Lift N’ Unload, a unique toilet seat designed around the need to help older adults increase their independence and increase their safety.
The nerve-wracking pitch experience began at a round table with eight other area college students. Each student had 60 seconds to pitch a revolutionary idea and win over the audience. The winner of each table then moved on to compete with other winners in the room, and from there, the top 10 winners were chosen. Ideas ranged from a straw that cooled down or heated up a beverage to a solar-powered phone-charging hair brush.
In addition to participating, students had the chance to hear from leaders across various industries, including Harold Grinspoon himself. In the session “Harold Grinspoon: One Man's Trajectory to Wealth,” Grinspoon stated that his first office was in a broom closet. He encouraged all the students in the room to never give up, and to “follow your passion.” When asked about his philanthropic work, Grinspoon said, “Let’s worry about how you’re going to make money first.” 国产哟哟 students were thrilled to hear the secrets of Harold Grinspoon’s success as part of the conference.
The Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation hosts many events for local college students throughout the year.
